Summit Media and GMA network’s joint venture and fourth project Sports Interactive Network Philippines, better known as SPIN.ph — a full staff, standalone sports website, which is a first of its kind in the Philippines — launched last Thursday, 17 October 2013 at URBN Bar & Kitchen at the Fort with key people from Phoenix Fuels, Mizuno, Penshoppe, Burlington as well as PBA legends, celebrity athletes, and media people in attendance.
SPIN.ph has changed the landscape of sports reporting in the country with its real-time delivery of hottest sports news and insightful feature stories. It has in no time attracted a number of sports fans seeking sports updates including interesting columns, photo galleries, videos, and podcasts.
Summit Media president Lisa Gokongwei–Cheng said the advent of SPIN.ph comes at a glorious time for Philippine sports owing to the success of Manny Pacquiao, the rise of the national footbal team Azkals and rugby union team nicknamed Volcanoes, the resurgence of the Philippine Basketball Association, the unprecedented popularity of college basketball, and other historic events such as the recent NBA preseason game in Manila. In less than two years, SPIN.ph has become the country\’s No. 1 sports website according to a September 2013 data of Effective Measure.

Motivated to match the phenomenal success of its sister website Philippine Entertainment Portal or PEP.ph, SPIN.ph is definitely off to a great start.
Many, many thanks to Nicole Cruz and Nikka Peralta of Summit Media PR for having me at the event launch. It was also great to see fellow runner bloggers Jaymie Pizarro aka the Bull Runner and Jet Paiso. Jet was one of the lucky raffle winners that night. Congrats, Jet!
