Adidas King of the Road 2011 Half Marathon Race Review

I had my first taste of running Adidas King of the Road (KOTR) race in 2005.  Until now I still have their fuschia colored singlet, not only one but two since I also participated their races in 2007 where Gawad Kalinga was the beneficiary of that event and during the KOTR Finals.  It was also in a KOTR where I was baptized to run my first half marathon.
This year, I’ve had a chance of running the same category but with a little twist of excitement.  The great stuff I’ve noticed:
Very efficient system of depositing/claiming at the baggage area
Staff assisting the runners are courteous
Label for each category, 5k, 16.8, and 21K, is clearly visible
The enclosure or corral at the baggage counter added safety and security
Nice and colorful singlet design
Different START and FINISH lines
Race started on time
Provision of bananas in one of the stations along Buendia route is an extra treat for runners
Overflowing cold water and Powerade energy drinks
Efficient traffic control
Provision of portalets in key areas
Efficient way of giving the loot bags
So many freebies from sponsors after the race
Overall, it was a GREAT race!
Saying “hi” to Bro J, who took this picture, as I was on my way to the finish line.

Many thanks to Ms. Isa Sevilla of Green Bulb PR for facilitating my registration.  Once again, I take my hats off to Runrio Team and congratulations to Adidas Philippines for staging another great race this year!
