TransChorale was invited by United Nations to sing songs of hope and inspiration to the United Nations family in the Philippines last October 24 at Makati Sports Club.

Running Diva was a part of this singing group but left this group the month before for good due to change in employment. Here she was invited once again to sing with them. This time, as a renegade alto. The group rendered two songs, Tuwing Umuulan & a Medley Paraiso/Better World, these are songs composed by Ryan Cayabyab about the environment and caring for people to make this world a better place.

TransChorale is the National Transmission Corporation’s (TransCo) premiere singing ambassadors. Formed at the TransCo Head Office in Diliman, Quezon City in April 2003, TransChorale exists to help contribute to TransCo’s corporate culture, institution building, and enhancement efforts. Comprised of bonafide employees of TransCo, this band of brothers and sisters are also professionals in their own right: engineers, accountants, HR practitioners, programmers, writers, statisticians, financial analysts, secretaries and clerks.

With their musical director Mr. Robert M. Delgado, former member and resident arranger of the Philippine Madrigal Singers, popularly known as MADZ, all 30 TransChorale members have been passionately performing and representing the Corporation in various corporate and social functions. In August 2004, the group successfully mounted their first major concert at the Abelardo Hall in UP Diliman, Quezon City with their first mentor, Prof. Augusto Espino. Their choreographer for this concert was Mr. Jojo Lucila of the Chameleon Dance Company. Since then, proceeds from their next two concerts were donated to the elderly, abandoned, and sickly children under the care of the Missionaries of Charity in Tayuman, Manila. Another beneficiary is the St. Joseph the Worker Chapel in Tandang Sora, Quezon City.

Last June 2008, TransChorale held a dinner concert to raise funds for the victims of typhoon Frank which devastated Region VI area. TransChorale continues to inspire through their songs and charity works.

About Transchorale By Carmelo A

The United Nations was established in the aftermath of a devastating war, to strengthen international relations and give peace a more secure foundation. But the United Nations is much more than a peacekeeper and a forum for conflict resolution. The UN and its family of agencies are engaged in a vast array of work that seeks to improve the lives around the world. To reaffirm the ideals by which the United Nations was founded, every year, on the 24th October, UN Day is celebrated.

United Nations system in the Philippines joins the rest of the world in commemorating this day. Recognizing the invaluable contribution of the UN staff and their families in promoting peace and development throughout the world, the United Nations family in the Philippines is organizing UN Night with the theme, “Unity in Diversity,” which aims to build camaraderie and reaffirm commitment as international civil servants.

  2. It was nice seeing you at the UNICEF run with your family. I wouldn\’t be surprised seeing your children joining races soon. Thanks, Philip. Should you need this group to sing in one of your company events, let me know. They would welcome such opportunity. If we are addict to running so is this group to singing. Singing is just a hobby of mine but can\’t do it while running. 🙂
